Luxury Villas to Rent on Lake Garda

Lake Garda is one of Italy’s coveted northern lakes. It has all of the charm of its sister lakes, Como and Maggiore, as well as a more sporty active vibe. Towns are gathered around the lake shores and it is dominated in the east by the mighty Monte Baldo.

THE AREA

Lake Garda extends for more than 50 km (30 miles) from north to south and is divided between three wealthy Italian regions, Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino. The main villages on the eastern coast are no more than half an hour’s drive to Verona and to the west you can reach the charming city of Bergamo. If you like train journeys, you can easily travel to Milan or Venice.

RESTAURANTS

Elegant lakeside restaurants afford atmospheric venues for enjoying high quality Italian cuisine. From family-run to contemporary, all the establishments here offer a taste of traditional Italian flavours and exceptional levels of hospitality.
You will also enjoy excellent wines from the three regions covered by Lake Garda as the perfect accompaniment to any meal.

NIGHT LIFE

The nightlife scene in Lake Garda has an upbeat yet relaxed vibe. There are cosy wine bars plus a fabulous choice of eateries and lively nightclubs. Why not dine al fresco on a restaurant boat with a backdrop of the moon and stars shimmering on the lake waters.

THINGS TO DO

Lake Garda is all about the water. So live like a local and use the water taxis and ferries to get around and visit different lakeside towns.

Sirmione is an enchanting town at the south of the lake dominated by the Rocca Scaligera, an impressive fortress with harbour views. From here you can visit the nearby Grotte di Catullo archaeological site with its spectacular Roman villa. On the east, take a cable car up from Malcesine to Monte Baldo and experience a bird’s eye view of the lake. On the lake’s western shore, you will find Gardone Riviera, one of Italy’s ‘Most Beautiful Small Towns’ with its fabulous botanic gardens.

Lake Garda has become a mecca for windsurfers and kite-surfers due to the strong winds that blow across the lake from the Alps to the north. It is also a favourite with mountain bikers. They often take their bikes up Monte Baldo and cycle down the black ski runs for a real adrenaline rush.

EVENTS

Lake Garda hosts a fantastic range of events throughout the year, meaning it’s more than likely that whatever time you visit, there will be something exciting going on. Open air events are very common here. For a real night to remember watch opera at the outdoor amphitheater in Verona. The programme always features both traditional and contemporary interpretations of work by well-known composers.
In the summer months, there is no shortage of music, dance and theatre with performers including big international names. Local food festivals feature live music, delicious local food, dancing and often firework displays for a spectacular end to the day.
