Phuket Secrets

Located in the south of Thailand, Phuket is the largest and arguably the most fun of all the Thai islands. Phuket has it all: a large number of entertainment options, top-class shopping venues and some of the most gorgeous beaches in the whole country. With so much to see and do and so many choices, it can be a little overwhelming

In Phuket's Old Town You’ll find street after street of old, colorful colonial-style mansions and townhouses hosting cute, cozy stores and eateries — perfect for Instagram and a welcome change of pace compared to some of Phuket’s more lively districts. One of Phuket’s many gorgeous beaches, Freedom Beach, is one of the most secluded and pristine on the island. It’s a little more remote and more difficult to access than the others, but it’s well worth the effort — an empty beach free from water sports and loud music will be your reward. Tree lined, with soft sand and clear, blue seas, it’s a postcard-worthy beach that you can experience for yourself. et in the scenic Old Town of Phuket, the walking street market is the place to be to sample traditional, southern Thai cuisine. Aside from the delicious food, those lucky enough to visit can shop for authentic Thai handicrafts and gifts under the scenic Chinese lanterns and between the pretty, colorful buildings.

Blue Elephant Tucked into the grand Phra Pitak Chinpracha Mansion of Phuket Town, this elegant restaurant is among Phuket’s best known fine dining venues, combining its elegant Sino-Portuguese architectural setting with a menu of authentic Thai cuisine.

More to do in Phuket

Thailand’s national animal is the elephant, but sadly many are still abused, forced to perform and cruelly ridden by many in this country. Fortunately, places like the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary exist to both educate visitors about the animal’s plight and rehabilitate those majestic creatures who’ve been mistreated in the past. Visitors to the sanctuary can not only learn about elephants but also have fun feeding them and observing them in their newly found freedom

The island's most distinctive event is the annual Vegetarian Festival, featuring processions of god-mediums performing shocking acts of self-mortification as a test of faith. This bazaar of the bizarre is held annually over nine days in the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar.
