ST. TROPEZ - ANTIBES

a town on the French Riviera,100 kilometres (62 miles) west of Nice in the Var department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. St Tropez is, quite simply, the most famous resort in Europe, The pointillist Paul Signac led them in from the late 19th century and, by the Forties and Fifties, the village was a summertime extension of the Parisian Left Bank. St Tropez peninsula is spectacular, the views across the sea to the Maures mountains are outstanding.

THE AREA

Saint-Tropez is a coastal town on the French Riviera, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. Long popular with artists, the town attracted the international "jet set" in the 1960s, and remains known for its beaches and nightlife. The cobblestoned La Ponche quarter recalls its past as a fishing village, although yachts now outnumber fishing boats in the Vieux Port (Old Port).

st. tropez is a great place to try all the local French wine of great taste, plenty of bars you can enjoy, st. tropez has some of the finest nightbars with great DJ's performing on a regular basis.

SUMMER PARADISE

Vieux Port (Old Port) is one of the must things to see. Idyllic scenes of small fishing boats and fashionable yachts docked in the harbor, which is lined by pastel-colored Mediterranean houses and lively cafés with outdoor terraces. On the wide sidewalk at the water's edge, artists sell colorful paintings depicting scenes of Saint-Tropez. The Old Town of Saint-Tropez, known as "La Ponche" borders the Vieux Port harbor basin and is below the citadel. La Ponche is the historic center of the fishing village and is the most picturesque area of Saint Tropez. Only a taste of the many amazing things to see and do.

MARKETS

Every Tuesday and Saturday morning, Saint Tropez hosts its open air market on the famous Place des Lices. This is a fantastic market which sells a huge range of foods including breads, pastries, cheeses, sausages, flowers, olives, spices, herbs, fruit and vegetables.

TRANSFERS

You can get a taxi pretty much from all over St. Tropez, taxi boat Saint Tropez is a good place to talk to. From Toulon-Hyères airport a taxi (00 33 494 006000; taxis-hyeres.com) costs from €110 to €110 during the day, from €135 to €150 from 7pm to 7am. The 7803 bus (varlib.fr) goes to St Tropez five times a day for €3 one way
